About the Role

A nationally recognized café brand is hiring Part-Time Counter Service Associates at busy urban and suburban locations. Counter service associates are the primary point of contact for every customer who walks through the door — taking orders, answering questions, processing payments, and ensuring the experience at the counter is fast, accurate, and friendly. This role is a cornerstone position in any café and a great career starting point for people interested in customer service, food service management, or hospitality.

What You Will Do

  • Greet each customer with a warm welcome and guide them through the menu, highlighting daily specials and popular items
  • Take food and drink orders accurately and enter them into the POS system with the correct modifications, sizes, and customizations
  • Process cash, debit, credit, and app-based payments efficiently and without errors
  • Hand completed orders to the correct customer, checking drink names and food items before handoff
  • Keep the counter area clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift — condiment stations, napkin holders, and receipt paper
  • Respond to customer inquiries about allergens, dietary restrictions, and ingredient details accurately and helpfully
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar team on modifications, wait times, and special order handling
  • Support the shift lead with opening, closing, or mid-shift tasks as directed

What You Need

  • Customer service mindset — every interaction at the counter sets the tone for the customer's entire visit
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when entering orders and handling payments
  • Composure during busy periods — the counter gets loud and fast and the best associates stay smooth throughout
  • Reliable availability for at least 2 – 3 shifts per week
  • Physical comfort standing at the counter for a 4 – 6 hour shift
  • Must be 16 or older — prior counter or cashier experience is a plus but not required

Nice to Have

  • Previous counter service, fast food, or retail cashier experience
  • POS system familiarity (Toast, Square, Lightspeed, or similar)
  • Food handler card or ServSafe Food Handler certification

What We Offer

  • Pay of $13 – $15 per hour plus tip pool earnings paid weekly
  • Flexible part-time scheduling built around your availability
  • Free drinks and employee food discount on every shift
  • Training, support, and mentorship from experienced shift leads
  • Opportunity to move into shift lead or assistant manager roles with experience
  • Paid sick leave per all applicable state and local laws
