<p><strong>Description of General Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a detail-oriented graduate research assistant (GRA) to join an NCI-funded project examining racial healthcare disparities in cancer genetic counseling. Under the guidance of Dr. John Quillin (Virginia Commonwealth University) and Erin Carmany (Wayne State University), the GRA will assist with clinical content coding—rigorously documenting every clinical topic that genetic counselor and patient discuss during a cancer genetic counseling session.</p>
<p>This is a part-time, fully remote, temporary position that will continue until coding is completed for all transcripts, or 7/31/2027, whichever comes first. We anticipate coding will be completed in 200 to 250 hours. The pay range is $25-30/hour. The weekly time commitment is 8 hours per week for a current graduate student and up to 20 hours per week for a recent graduate.</p>

<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Completed at least 1 rotation in cancer genetic counseling setting as part of an ACGC-accredited MS Genetic Counseling program</li>
<li>Demonstrated record of dependability and reliability</li>
<li>Working knowledge of computer programs and systems, especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite</li>
<li>Working knowledge of virtual meeting platforms, such as Zoom</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Some training in Psychology, Public Health, Health Services, or closely related fields</li>
<li>Experience with Nvivo Qualitative Analysis software</li>
<li>Service orientation, commitment to excellence and professional growth</li>
